There’s something refreshing about THIS & THAT. Instead of sticking to one sound or trying to fit into a particular concept, Stray Kids do what they do best; they make music that feels unapologetically like them. It’s loud, emotional, playful and occasionally chaotic, but that’s exactly what gives the album its charm.
The opening track, “RUN IT,” wastes no time setting the pace. It’s powerful, confident and packed with the kind of energy that immediately gets you excited for what’s to come. From there, the album flows naturally between different moods, showing off the group’s versatility without ever feeling disconnected.
The title track, “This & That,” is easily one of the biggest highlights. It’s the kind of song that sticks in your head after one listen, with an addictive chorus and a carefree energy that’s impossible not to enjoy. It doesn’t try to be overly complicated; instead, it leans into having fun, and that confidence is what makes it work so well. The song brings the type of energy that fits a Stray Kids world tour, the loud and chaotic beats allow fans to imagine what is coming for the next world tour.
That feeling carries straight into the music video. Rather than focusing on a complicated storyline, the video lets the members’ personalities do the talking. Bright visuals, fun set pieces and energetic choreography make every scene feel alive, while the chemistry between the eight members is what really holds everything together. It feels natural, almost like you’re watching them genuinely enjoy themselves instead of simply performing for the camera. The Festival Version takes that energy even further, making the song feel like it was made to be played in front of a huge crowd.
The rest of the album continues to surprise in the best way. “After You” slows things down with warm vocals and a more emotional atmosphere, while “FARMING” is classic Stray Kids; unexpected, quirky and full of personality. “I Do” delivers one of the album’s most heartfelt moments, and “Way Out” brings the intensity straight back with cinematic production and powerful rap verses. Closing with “Back Then,” the album finishes on a nostalgic note that leaves you wanting to press play all over again.
What makes THIS & THAT so enjoyable is how effortless it feels. Every song brings something different, but nothing feels out of place. Whether it’s the heavier tracks, the emotional moments or the more playful ones, Stray Kids make every style feel like their own. The production is polished, the performances are full of personality, and the album never loses its momentum.
THIS & THAT isn’t trying to reinvent Stray Kids. It simply reminds everyone why they’ve become one of K-pop’s most exciting groups. It’s fun, confident and full of character, with a title track and music video that capture exactly what makes the group so enjoyable to watch and listen to.
