Seven years after their last visit to the UK, BTS returned to London for their ARIRANG World Tour, marking a highly anticipated reunion between the group and their fans. Following the completion of their military service, the return carried the significance of a new chapter that celebrated both where BTS had come from and where they were heading next.
Taking place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the two-night event highlighted the level of detail and production that BTS have become known for throughout their career. Before the performance began, traditional Korean instruments played throughout the venue, creating an atmosphere that built towards BTS’ arrival while subtly introducing the cultural elements that would become a defining part of the show.
The scale of the production was impossible to miss. The enormous 360-degree stage took up a huge portion of the stadium floor, allowing fans from every section of the venue to feel involved in the performance.
The opening moments set the tone for the night where hooded figures appeared on stage carrying red smoke flares before BTS made their entrance, creating an intense and powerful introduction. Opening with Hooligan the tone was immediately set for the night with fire, sparks, smoke, and explosive stage effects.
Moving into Aliens and Run BTS, the members performed from elevated sections of the stage, using the rotating platforms to move around the stage. Run BTS in particular brought an immediate surge of energy, with the iconic dance break receiving an explosive reaction from the crowd. Dressed in black leather outfits, BTS showcased the confidence and stage presence that has defined their performances for years.
However the production was not only built around scale. Throughout the show, BTS incorporated elements that celebrated their Korean identity. During They Don’t Know ’Bout Us and Merry Go Round, traditional influences became a key part of the performance, with backup dancers incorporating Korean masks and elements inspired by traditional dances. Combined with the black-and-white visuals on the screens, the performance created a striking blend of tradition and modernity.
The importance of the backup dancers throughout the concert played a major role in shaping the visual identity of the show, they enhanced each performance through captivating formations and choreography.
BTS continued to showcase their versatility throughout the set. Fake Love brought a powerful response from fans as the members moved along the extended stages, coming closer to different sections of the audience. Meanwhile, Swim created one of the most visually beautiful moments of the night, with dancers using large white fabrics across the stage to resemble waves.
The energy continued to rise throughout the show, with performances such as 2.0 and Not Todaybringing the stadium to life with the momentum reaching its peak with Mic Drop where the crowd’s response was undeniable. The iconic choreography, powerful fan chants, and energy of the performance reminded everyone why the song remains such a defining part of BTS’ discography.
One of the most meaningful moments of the concerts came with Body to Body, which features a sample of the traditional Korean folk song Arirang. Hearing over 65,000 fans in London sing along to such an important piece of Korean culture created a truly powerful moment. It represented the unique connection BTS have built globally bringing their heritage to audiences around the world.
The celebration continued with IDOL, creating a parade-like atmosphere. BTS moved around the venue while surrounded by dozens of dancers carrying flags and LED ribbons.
During a brief break in the performance, fans appeared on the stadium screens, creating another opportunity for interaction between BTS and ARMY. When the members returned for Come Over, their vocals became the focus once again, with their voices standing out clearly throughout the performance.
Across the two nights, BTS surprised fans with different tracks, including Life Goes On and Dionysus on the first night, followed by Save Me and Young Forever on the second. While every surprise performance created excitement, Young Forever became one of the most emotional moments of the entire event.
The significance of the song was carried by its history with London ARMY in 2019 where fans created a memorable fan project involving Young Forever, creating one of the most iconic moments from BTS’ previous UK appearances. This time the members turned that memory around by surprising fans with the song themselves. Both the audience and the members grew visibly emotional, creating a moment that reflected years of shared memories.
The emotional atmosphere continued into BTS’ ending speeches. Throughout both nights the members repeatedly expressed how happy they were to return to London.
Closing with Into the Sun, BTS delivered a finale that captured everything the concert represented. Fireworks filled the stadium throughout the performance while the combination of visuals, music, and emotion created an unforgettable ending.
