Aespa has never been a group to do things quietly, and SYNK: aeXIS LINE is no exception. The special digital single gives fans two new tracks: “Serenade” by Karina and Winter and “Lollipop” by Giselle and Ningning, with both songs showcasing very different sides of the group.
“Serenade” immediately grabs your attention with its bold, energetic sound. Karina and Winter sound completely in their element here, bringing a confidence to the track that makes it feel bigger with every listen. Rather than going for a soft romantic serenade, the song has plenty of attitude, turning the title into something much more powerful. There is a real sense of independence running through it, with both members delivering their parts with enough confidence to make the track feel genuinely empowering.
The pairing of Karina and Winter works particularly well because their voices have such different qualities. You can feel the impact of Winter’s sharp vocals and Karina’s commanding presence, which allows you to feel their rebellious confidence. Their dynamic keeps pushing the song forward as they strike a balance between a dark, powerful beat and an addictive chorus focused on living without restrictions.
Then there is “Lollipop”, where Giselle and Ningning take things in a much more playful direction. The song has an infectious energy that feels lighter and cheekier, allowing both members to have fun with the track. Ningning’s warm vocals give it plenty of punch, while Giselle brings her effortless coolness and distinctive delivery. Their chemistry is one of the biggest strengths of the song, with the two bouncing off each other rather than trying to overpower one another.
“Lollipop” is also the kind of song that grows on you quickly. There is an easy catchiness to it, making it difficult not to find yourself humming along after a few listens. Where “Serenade” feels like a confidence boost, “Lollipop” feels like they’re letting their hair down. That contrast is what makes SYNK: aeXIS LINE so enjoyable. The two tracks are different, but neither feels out of place.
It is a short release, but it does exactly what a digital single should do: leave you wanting more. If anything, these two tracks make a strong case for giving aespa’s members even more opportunities to experiment with different combinations and sounds.
